Jeffrey H. Gyzen
Principal Architect

Mr. Gyzen has been a Principal with Gyzen & Associates since he founded the firm more than two decades ago in 1986. Having been involved with the design of over 200 critical facilities throughout the US, Europe, Pacific Rim, Central America, and Australia, Mr. Gyzen is acknowledged as an expert in critical facilities and data center design. His experience includes full-service architectural design, programming and planning, space planning, schematic or conceptual design, design development, codes/standards research, construction documents, CADD documentation, seismic studies and analyses, value engineering, and construction management. He is currently maintaining active architectural registrations in 13 states.

As a contributing author, Mr. Gyzen was actively involved in the establishment of the first nationally recognized Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers. The standard, known as ANSI/CSA/EIA/TIA-942 Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers, is an official US and Canadian standard for data center infrastructure acknowledged by ANSI (American National Standards Institute), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), EIA (Electronics Industries Alliance), and the TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association). This new standard will become the basis for an international standard to be adopted by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization). It provides standards for the planning of data centers, computer rooms, co-location centers, trading floor equipment rooms, technology test labs, and similar spaces. The standard encompasses much more than just telecommunications infrastructure. In fact, approximately half of the technical content deals with facility specifications in support of telecommunications infrastructures.

Due to his contribution to ANSI/CSA/EIA/TIA-942, Mr. Gyzen was recruited to participate in a new data center standard being produced for the professional organization BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International).
